Introduction    :    Personnel    :    [Facilities]    :    Affiliates

The administrative offices of the Visual Media Center are located at both 820/821 Schermerhorn Hall and 653 Schermerhorn Extension. We maintain two production studios:
The Paula Vial Lempert Art History Media Studio for Education and Research in 821 Schermerhorn

The Archæology and Historic Preservation Media Studio for Documentation, Conservation, and Interpretation in 661 Schermerhorn
We have excellent capabilities in Web design, video and audio production, image processing, programming, modeling, and animation. About one-dozen workstations are connected via a local area network to an Apple server. Our dedicated Web server and image database operates on a Sun Microsystems server. By working closely in Schermerhorn Hall and Schermerhorn Extension with the Historic Preservation Architectural Conservation Laboratory, Archæology faculty, and the Art History Slide and Photograph Collections we are building a shared group of inter-related facilities and programs through the Cultural Resources Initiative.

These are permanent, fixed facilities. Just as important; however, is the capability and equipment we have to conduct expeditions in the field. This includes portable computers, still film cameras, digital still and video cameras, tripods and jib arms, lighting, and sound. We can analyze and record a building or site in the field as we have done with Amiens Cathedral, the Cloisters, and the Alhambra.
